Life Before The Portable Oxygen Concentrator

Do you remember when the electric starter became standard on automobiles?  Probably not.  But what about anti-lock brakes?  Airbags?  Crumple zones?

I remember a time that not everyone had a home telephone.  I was there when pagers or ‘beepers’ as they were called were new and exciting.  I remember wishing that I could afford that new thing they called a “car phone”.

Color copiers, fax machines, CD players, DVD players, even the internet itself has been within my lifetime.  The list goes on and on. I’ve been told that my grandmother used an outhouse until the year after I was born!

Why do I bring all this up?  It’s because I can also remember my great-aunt driving 90 miles in an old station wagon to recieve her oxygen.  I remember when she had her first home oxygen station delivered.  I didn’t know what it was at the time ,but now I know it was a large oxygen concentrator.  It was loud and it filled half of her living room.  I remember how she never went anywhere.  She just sat in her Lazy-Boy recliner connected with a tube in her nose to that big machine.

I was too young to think about what she might have been doing if she wasn’t tethered to that machine.  With today’s technology she could have been out working in her garden, going to the market and attending church.

If she could have had a portable oxygen concentrator like the Lifechoice that weighs less than 5 pounds and safely delivers an unlimited supply of oxygen,  I would probably remember her as being very outgoing and active like everyone tells me she was.

If you are still at home, tethered to yesterday’s technology, please have a look at what’s possible today with portable oxygen concentrators.  As you know, technology is improving at an incredible pace.  What was impossible yesterday might be within your reach today.
